Borri Power was introduced to the UK, European, Middle East and American markets in the late 1970´s by W&A Technology Group who were engaged by the Italian Borri family and American Cyberex company to develop the international export markets for their industrial power conversion products and UPS systems.
The brand name of “Borri Power” has been in continuous use by W & A Technology Group since 1985.

Our market focus is to provide an application engineering consultancy service and and to supply industrial grade standardised UPS systems for critical duty applications where the conventional commercial are considered unsuitable.

  The EF20 series

  This is a new microprocessor control logic based product range with single phase input or three phase input with single phase output from 5kVA to 25kVA.

  This range of industrial grade UPS systems is available with single phase input and single phase output in sizes up to 25kVA, an alternative version with three phase input is also available. The use of high frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) inverters ensures exceptional performance and extremely quiet operation. An important feature of this product is the automatic input power factor correction and harmonic compensation technique built into the rectifier, thus the total harmonic distortion reflected into the input power source is very low and the current consumption is optimised.

  The RT 20 series

  A rugged IGBT PWM inverter product range using conventional logic with a three phase input with single phase output UPS systems up to 150kVA and with three phase input and three phase output from 10 kVA to 400 kVA.

  Industrial grade compact, fully configured integrated style of UPS systems available with 6 pulse or 12 pulse rectifiers, available in single module and multi module parallel configuration for installation in computer room or plant room. The inverter design is a high frequency PWM type with shielded logic, output isolation transformer, static interrupter with static transfer and manual bypass switch, a status indicating and alarm mimic with digital metering is fitted as standard. This product design has adopted the commercial standard DC bus voltage of 384 and can be used with all types of batteries. The VRLA batteries can be supplied for assembly onto racks or are supplied in enclosures to match the UPS enclosure. Available in sizes, 10kVA to 150kVA with single phase output and 10kVA to 400kVA with 3 phase output. The RT20 range of products can also be supplied with 60Hz output or used as frequency converters.

Some Borri history

Borri Srl Elettronica Industriale was the Italian licensee of Cyberex Inc of the USA and manufactured in Soci the American design of thyristor PWM inverter industrial UPS designs required by the petrochemical engineering EPC companies and other expanding industrial markets.

The W & A Technology group was involved in the development of a new technology range of transistor PWM inverter UPS systems, subsequently manufactured in Italy since 1985, the products were sold in the UK and the EMEA Region by Cyberex International Limited in England and marketed in the USA by Cyberex Inc. W & A Technology subsequently took over the international marketing of the new licenced UPS product range from Cyberex International Limited (UK) and established Borri Power Systems Limited. Borri Power Systems Limited later changed its name to Power Systems International Limited to extend the export marketing operations for a number of different products.

The Borri family sold their Borri Srl Elettronica Indstriale company to General Signal Corporation in 1990. then sold on to SPX, after a very short period SPX sold the Borri company to the UK firm BTR PLC. BTR was the owner of Exide, Best Power Technology, Deltec, Gould, Prestige, Fiskars and Powerware UPS systems. BTR acquired Siebe and the name was changed to Invensys PLC but the Borri Italian firm lost its “BORRI” identity when it was renamed Invensys Power Systems SpA.

The name was changed again to Powerware SpA. Invensys PLC sold their Powerware businesses in August 2004 to Eaton Corporation and the Powerware SpA company name was changed to Eaton Power Quality SpA.

In January 2005 Eaton Corporation offered their Italian subsidiary for sale, thus after a somewhat turbulent period of instabilty and uncertainty over the preceding 10 years it was sold to local Arezzo investors in September 2005. The local investors renamed the Eaton Power Quality SpA company “Borri SpA” but it was “sold” again in 2007 to the new proprietors Doia Limited, of Edgware Middlesex England.

Please note: Borri Power Systems Limited has no connection with the new Borri SpA company formed by the directors of Astrid Energy Enterprises SpA and their fiduciary partners through the Juridiction of Arezzo Italy in 2005.
